Terrible drive performance with Windows 10

#1 Post by TechLife » Thu Jun 18, 2015 11:26 pm

Since installing the Windows 10 technical preview, my drive performance has been abysmal. I've tried reinstalling the chipset driver. I've tried it with and without AnyDVD. If I can get a DVD to read at all without just crashing, the speed is 1.1x at best. I've only tried one BD and that seemed to be fine but it could have just been luck. This is what usually happens with AnyDVD disabled:

MakeMKV v1.9.4 win(x64-release) started
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT ESTABLISHED' occurred while issuing SCSI command A30..00CC3000A0..0FFFFFFFFFF0..0 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'
Drive BD-ROM HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CA40N A102 has RPC protection that can not be bypassed. Change drive region or update drive firmware from http://tdb.rpc1.org. Errors likely to follow.
Using direct disc access mode
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #1 does not match one in IFO header.

IFO file for VTS #1 is corrupt, VOB file must be scanned. This may take very long time, please be patient.

Again, if I try it enough times, it will work but is ridiculously slow. I should note these same discs play fine in VLC. I'm not saying this is a MakeMKV problem, I'm just hoping someone here has had a similar issue and found a fix.
