Backup to ISO or rebuild SSIF

#1 Post by Nico83500 » Mon Dec 09, 2013 7:47 pm

Hi,
Do you think it would possible to add an option to backup to ISO ? So it would perhaps possible to keep SSIF files on 3D Blu ray...
Or have you made a solution to rebuild SSIF files on Windows ?
Thanks !

There are numerous ways to rebuild SSIF files from MakeMKVs ssif.txt files. I believe somebody even wrote a tool to do so.

Thanks but I don't find any way to rebuild SSIF... The only solution I have found seems to be for Linux.

Another question : when I use Decrypt file with Backup disc, decryption method is equivalent to AnyDVD or DVDFab ? Does MakeMKV output decrypted files are the same than others softs ?

Thanks !

I know this is an old thread but I thought that I would still check if a resolution to the matter of rebuilding the ssif from the ssif.map that MakeMkv produces actually is possible ?

I made folder backups of 3D bdray discs using MakeMkv but realised my player will not accept the BDMV structure.

Instead. I would like to revert to an ISO container but the ssif having been changed to ssif.smap, it is not clear to me what tool can now be used to revert to the original ISO/UDF ssif Formats ?

If you can help that would be great.

Hopefully this will help someone out.
I think I found a way to rebuild the ssif into a UDF 2.5 compatible iso file.
Basically you need to follow the instructions here.
https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php? ... ost1652967
"""
7) Use DVDFab Virtual Drive to create mini iso and mount it. This rebuilds the SSIF folder using information in the playlists. The SSIF folder only contains symbolic links to the stream files, which is why you end up with double sized video when you copy this folder to your hard drive.
8) Using any DVD/Blu-ray burning software, such as Imgburn, use the write to image to create the full iso from the mounted mini iso
"""
It requires using DVDFab Virtual Driver with mini-iso that will dynamically rebuild the SSIF files in a way that is UDF 2.5 compatible for iso file generation.
There are more details at the DVDFab site on how mini-iso works.
https://www.dvdfab.cn/miniso.htm

EDIT: Although the miniso files seem to work with dvdfab software, generating an ISO file with imgburn creates iso's that don't seem to work on certain systems. This may not be a fool proof approach but I'm not sure what differs between the generated iso and the original iso that make them incompatible..
