Old Version Available? - 1.7.0

#1 Post by pkawata » Thu Oct 04, 2012 4:25 pm

I am having problems ripping HD-DVD's using the latest version of makemkv. I've read that ver 1.7.0 works for that. Where can I get ver 1.7.0 for Win 7 and Mac? I've Google'd for ver 1.7.0 but haven't come up with any reliable download sites.

NM. I found them right here at makemkv's web site. I guess I didn't do a thorough enough search. Can anyone confirm though that v 1.7.0 works for HD-DVD's? - Thanks.

I ripped an HD-DVD yesterday using 1.7.7. The problem with opening HD-DVDs that forced you to back to 1.7.0 has been long fixed.

The problem with 1.7.7 wasn't with opening the HD-DVD. It allowed me to read the disk, but after a few minutes I got an error (I don't remember what it was) and terminated. This happened to several HD-DVD's that I tried.

My bad. I meant to say the the error occurred during transcoding and not while reading.

@pkawata

Hi!

1) It would be good if you'd post an error log for one of your recent problematic HD-DVD backups.

2) Have you tried to make a new backup of an HD-DVD that you previously were successful at copying? If you have/do and you still have the same problem, it is very likely that your drive is failing. On the other hand, if this re-copy is successful, then the problem is very likely with your original, commercial HD-DVDs...
