Much slower BD ripping with purchased/latest build??

#1 Post by translux » Sun Mar 25, 2012 6:12 pm

I have used an older freeware version a couple times and was able to get fantastic performance.
Today I paid and upgraded to the latest build and my performance is 5-6X what I was experiencing before.
I don't recall what speed I was getting before but I don't get past 2x currently
Nothing has changed other than the version of MakeMKV v1.7.2 win(x64-release)

I'm using a Plextor BD-R PX-B940SA 1.08, also told same as the Pioneer BDR-205.
Have read reviews that this drive is not riplocked.

Any ideas on how to get back to the performance I was seeing before?
Let me know if you need any additional info.

thanks

Some discs are slower than others. Perhaps this is the issue?
Home Theater PC: Assassin HTPC, XBMCbuntu 12.0 (Frodo), Intel i5 3570k 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge w/ HD 4000, LG BD-ROM
Playback Devices: Mede8er MED600X3D, MyGica EnjoyTV 120, Xtreamer SideWinder 3, Crystal Acoustics MediaMatchBox

I tried with a number of different discs and the results were the same.

@translux

Hi!
I don't recall what speed I was getting before but I don't get past 2x currently
Are you now confronted with the same apparent limitation if you use a different ripping program to rip the same problematic Blu-ray disc(s)?

Are you processing BD or DVD discs? What is the speed in MB/s, and what is CPU usage?

@mike admin

"translux" is posting about Blu-rays - hence the thread title " Much slower BD ripping with purchased/latest build?"
