Hi all-
I am new here and very new to ripping DVDs. I am looking to back up all of my extensive DVD collection, and I was thinking about using an older computer I have. I read in the online help ”The time to convert the disc is determined by a single factor - how fast is your drive capable to read. A typical time to copy DVD disc is about 15 minutes.”
Is this true that the time to rip a DVD will be the same on an older computer as a newer computer if both are using the same exact DVD drive?

Re: DVD rip time on different speed computers
If the slower computer can process the input fast enough that the drive can read at capacity then the statement should be true. Instead of theory try ripping a couple of single layer and double layer discs on each system and see what you get.
