[Newbie] Audio tracks?

#1 Post by blue4 » Thu Aug 06, 2020 8:52 pm

Got perfectly good .mkv files using MakeMKV on Windows 10. But no audio. Cannot see anything in the UI (even with expert mode enabled) and none of the .MKV files have audio content.

Any pointers appreciated.

Did you check that the audio tracks are selected?

Two common problems - selecting audio your playback software/hardware cannot handle, and setting a "preferred language" in MakeMKV that doesn't exist on the disk being ripped.

Hello and thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

Spot on with the hardware diagnosis. Works perfectly with the Realtek 5.1 audio on the motherboard.

Not so good with a Logitech stereo USB headset.

For anyone else ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The preferred language is set to none.

Both audio options for the track(s) in question are selected, in turn these are:

Audio -> DTS-HD MA Surround 5.1 English
Track information
Type: Audio
Name: Surround 5.1
Language: English
Codec: DTS-HD Master Audio
Channels: 6
Channel layout: 5.1(side)
Sample rate: 48000
Bits per sample: 24

then,
Audio -> DTS Surround 5.1 English
Track information
Type: Audio
Flags: Core audio
Name: Surround 5.1
Language: English
Codec: DTS
Channels: 6
Channel layout: 5.1(side)
Sample rate: 48000
