Cannot Find Optical Drive

#1 Post by jrester » Mon Aug 01, 2016 11:26 pm

Not sure what is happening but for some reason the program is making my dvd drive disappear. It will work on a few dvds and then it says it cannot find optical drive and my dvd reader wont work with any program. I have removed upper and lower filters as per a windows 7 tutorial which helped only for a short period of time. Any help?

Thanks!

Try a right click on the application icon and select 'Run as Administrator'

Ok, so I have tried to run as administrator and I still have the same issue...

Any other suggestions?

Question - you're able to rip after rebooting, but eventually Windows stops acknowledging the presence of the drive?

This has happened to me on occasion. Windows gets confused and thinks the disk you ejected is still in the drive, and nothing short of a reboot will bring it back.

Sometimes, I would notice something running in the Task Manager that shouldn't be, like several copies of makemkvcon, when I only have one copy of the graphic user interface up, but other times, there was nothing out of the ordinary, other than the drive "wasn't there" in Windows.

With external drives, it is easy enough to unplug then replug, but internal drives require a reset.
