Basic Blu-Ray Burning

#1 Post by Tyrone787 » Fri Apr 08, 2016 4:28 am

I am new here. If my DVD drive on my laptop cannot read Blu-Ray discs, how can I burn a Blu-ray disc? Can I connect my stand alone Blu-ray player & connect it to a USB drive on my laptop? If I do this, will the laptop recognize the Blu-ray player?

No, you need a Blu-ray drive. Either an external one you can connect via USB, or an internal one to replace your DVD drive in the laptop.

Reading Bluray disks requires a Bluray reader; burning them requires a Bluray burner.

MakeMKV only requires the reader, because it does nothing with burning disks. There are lots of BD-capable readers out there for laptops.

As pointed out, you can't. You wouldn't even be able to find a cable that would allow you to do that. Both the laptop and Blu-ray player are USB hosts. You cannot connect USB hosts together.
