Ripping Blu-Rays - First comments

Post by mark007 »

Hi,

I'm very impressed with makemkv's ease of use when ripping some of my blu-rays. I normally archive my blu-rays by just copying the main m2ts file, but obviously some movie are split into many m2ts defined by the playlist files.

I have some small issues with makemkv, versus the simple copy m2ts file.

1) I playback my movies with mpc-hc. Playing back my new mkv of Terminator Salvation, I notice that the audio stream that would normally be labelled something like "DTS-HD Master Audio" is replaced by just "HD Lossless".

I think this should be changed / improved, to match the audio stream title from the m2ts.

2) These hd audio streams are unchecked by default in makemkv gui when about to rip the blu-ray which I wasn't expecting....

My point number one is most important to me, I think it needs to give more accurate stream titles, preferably the exact same titles as from the original rather than "HD Lossless"
