Criterion: 'Seventh Seal' and 'The Wages of Fear' No Audio

I know this was explained before as some sort of audio format that is not fully supported that a few publishers use. Can anyone point me to that explanation? Anyone know a workaround and which discs use this format? Thank you.

Looks like PCM mono. Do a search for LPCM and you'll find the posts.

LPCM mono IS supported in a "compatible" way. Please post mediainfo output for produced MKV file.

Depends what you're playing it on. VLC will not play LPCM audio. However Dune HDI players do now play LPCM audio in MakeMKV files.

What you can do is use MakeMKV to make a file, demux the LPCM and convert to FLAC using ClownDB or HDStramextract and remux the FLAC back into the MKV file. I keep both LPCM and FLAC in my MKV files so that I can play either depending upon my setup.

I've always struggled with LPCM with my VLC. Here is the output from Mediainfo for my copy of Wages of Fear. The Video and LPCM were created using MakeMKV, the FLAC audio was added later. LPCM is silent on VLC, the FLAC works fine. Any thoughts welcome:
