I would like to know how the TV program BD recorder works.

Post by koto_mina »

In my country, there are home appliances that can record transport streams broadcast on DTV onto BD-R or BD-RE. This device seems to use the simplified version of AACS to encrypt the files written to the BD. BDs recorded with this device can currently be ripped with makemkv.

I would like to know how this simple AACS works. I understand that makemkv is a system that relies on some kind of disk database. However, discs recorded with a recorder can be ripped without any restrictions, even if the recorded content has changed.
Additionally, this AACS cannot be canceled using external functions such as libaacs or libmmbd, and aacsinfo also reports that it is an invalid AACS.

Does anyone have any information?
