Redfox Alternatives for 1080p BD Playback?

Post by zoom+slomo »

Apparently, we've seen the last of AnyDVD HD, as this site's been closed at least since July. https://www.redfox.bz/

I have an expired trial of makeMKV but someone said that this beta key will reactivate it.

But I'm not a coder and somewhat of a dummy, so how do I do this?

Then if successfully reactivated, my only interest is in playing NOT ripping BDs. So, please also tell me what steps to get makeMKV to work its BD playing magic on both VLC and JRiver players for Windows 10.

If the question is reactivating MakeMKV's bluray mode, just enter a current beta key in Help->Register.

I did all of this after I inserted this BD. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Mirage-Blu-ray/240718/

But I got this error message:

Blu-ray error:
Blu-ray Disc is corrupted.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///D:/'. Check the log for details.

Don't you have to have the payed-for version of MakeMKV for VLC integration to work? Since I've had a paid-for license for MakeMKV for a while now I've sorta forgotten the limitations of the trial mode.

Don't know if the trial was fully functional or not. I had only used it once to rip a DVD-R. I was hoping that an administrator or developer here could confirm whether makeMKV could, in fact, enable both VLC and JRiver player to play pressed BDs-and can do so with just a few simple mouse clicks. If so, will buy license.

If UHD isn't required, you used to be able to run VLC as a.server on loopback for disc authentication. This was a common use case back in the VLS+VLC era.

If UHD isn't required,.......
It isn't; >98% of my BDs are 1080p. But as I said, I am NO coder, nor do I have any idea what VLC player configuration you're talking about.

What I need to know is was my now expired makeMKV trial version fully functional, thereby allowing VLC and JRiver players to play 1080p BDs. yes/no?

Also, should an expired trial still have been able to enable BD playback on either of these Window players if a Beta key was installed?

I'd gladly buy a license if makeMKV makes BD playback a breeze with these players. But how do I confirm this before payment?

Sorry, apparently VLC doesn't do this for Blu-Ray, but it seems to still work for plain old DVD.

I'm not sure if you need a license key or not for the Makemkv proxy.

Well, it seems Billycar11 told me just over a year ago that VLC integration should work with the trial key.

How do I know if I installed this key and did so properly?
