Failed to open disc => Rome Season 1

Hello,

first I would like to say hello to everybody! I'm a new user so I hope that this topic will be OK with the rules of this forum.

Ok, so I discovered MakeMKV 2 months ago and I find it very nice. Thanks! I use it only to create MKV from TV serie's DVD. I have a HTPC with MediaBrowser and to have a backdrop for each episode, I need to split the original DVD in mutliple MKV, 1 for each episode. For some series, like Rome, MakeMKV can not open the disc, I don't know why and how to find a solution! The fact very strange is that I can open the first disc of the season 2 and create the 2 MKV from the 2 episodes but with the first disc of the season 1 => unpossible!

I hope that someone can explain me what is my mistake and if it's possible to create MKV from this DVD?

Looks like a bad rip.

Did you use something other than MakeMKV (running either in the foreground or the background) to initially rip your original, DVD?

Is your original source material a commercial DVD?

Hi setarip,

thanks for your answer! I make the ISO of the original DVD with DVDFab and after that I try to create the MKV.
I can read the ISO file with deamon tool so the ISO file seems to be good. I make a lot time an ISO copy with
DVDFab and create MKV without any problem! Do you think that is it still possible to create MKV with this ISO
file? Thank you for your help!

1) MakeMKV can rip your DVD DIRECTLY. There is no need to use DVDFab (or anything else).

2) Since you're having a problem make your life simple and, as I mentioned in 1), just use MakeMKV to re-rip your original, commercial DVD DIRECTLY to .MKV...
