Ok, so I am ripping my steelbooks to put onto my plex server. I am having a problem with some movies and shows.
Its only happening with some rips, not all. Not sure whats causing it as I have tried two different computers, one is an i7 and the other is a q6600. Only thing I havent tried is a different Blu ray drive as I dont have a spare currently.
The pcs are not being used during the ripping process and nothing else i running/downloading in the background to cause memory/cpu usage.
I have upped some screenshots of how the rips are coming out afterwards. One pc was windows 7 and the other is windows 10.
MakeMKV version 1.9.5 and 1.9.4 before with the same problem.
thanks

Strange problem with some rips
Re: Strange problem with some rips
Which discs exactly? What are you playing them with?
Windows 7 doesn't have native Matroska playback, you must have something installed in order to play the files.
The problems are definitely aligned to macro blocks which tends to mean a reference frame problem.
Post the mediainfo properties of some of the MKV files, specifically the video.
Actually, do you have the internet connected? It's possible the Blu Rays use BD Plus which deliberately scrambles some of the video sequences then applies fix up tables to correct them. If you don't have the internet connected or it's not fully accessible by MakeMKV, MakeMKV can't download the patches necessary to fix up certain discs.

Re: Strange problem with some rips
So far these are the discs I have noticed problems with but I will have to go back and check them all now I think
All UK Steelbooks if it makes a difference.
The Terminator
Guardians of the Galaxy
Hobbit Unexpected Journey
Aliens
Fast & Furious
Super 8
Hellboy 2
Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End.
Been using VLC to test playback after using MakeMKV.
Internet is connected permanently on both PC.
Where can I find the media info properties?

Re: Strange problem with some rips
Pretty sure he's referring to the tool MediaInfo, you can get it at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo. It puts out a huge amount of information about video files.
Re: Strange problem with some rips
Yup, looks good. Now we have to wait for ndjamena to do something with this information .
Re: Strange problem with some rips
Which version of VLC are you using?
Does it happen with other players as well?
Do the problems always happen in the same places, ie can you seek to those points and get the problems to appear or do you need to play it from the beginning?
Stupid question... do you always include the attachments?

Re: Strange problem with some rips
It happens through the entire films pretty much.
I will check which version of vlc im using in the morning although I havent tried any other players as yet.
Including attachments do you mean subtitles?
If yes then yes I do.

Re: Strange problem with some rips
VLC 2.0.4 & vlc 2.2.1
ok, so I have downloaded DivX player and it seems to be fine on that. I have also just gone back and tried it with VLC and seems to be fixed on there as well since the divx install.
How strange?!

Re: Strange problem with some rips
*sigh* VLC is self contained, it doesn't use system codecs... the only thing that could have changed it if you're using hardware decoding. Are you?
Did you actually bother playing with the settings to see if changing something fixed it?
The only OTHER possible explanations are bad video drivers or faulty hardware...
You had two computers... you've fixed one...

Re: Strange problem with some rips
I was wrong about VLC, they arent now working. One or two seem better for some reason. They all seem to be playing fine in DivX Player though from what I can see. I will do some more checking.
