Hello,
I'm a complete newbie at this, which will be obvious from my questions. I'm using Windows 8.1 and all I want to do is make an unaltered copy of the movie portion only from some of my original copy-protected DVDs and Blu-Rays. I don't want any menus, extra features, etc., and I'm not interested in changing the bit rate, resolution, file size, or any other properties of the original movie. I have had no problem extracting the movie portion to a .mkv file using MakeMKV and I've followed this up with Handbrake, but all of this seems needlessly complex if all I want to do is re-burn the movie portion without changing its properties. Isn't there some application available that simply does this and produces an appropriate set of DVD or Blu-Ray files that can be burned directly to a disk?
Along the same lines, is there possibly a setting in Handbrake itself that merely uses all the same settings as the original movie rather than the various custom settings?
Thanks,
Ray

If you want it to play in a BD player (rather than computer), you need Bluray authoring software to do it. Handbrake would NOT be necessary, unless your BD authoring software cannot handle MKV files.
SOME BD players can handle BD data disks with media files on them, but then you're just as well off to see if it will play from a hard drive or flash drive.
