Why can't VLC provide a preview function for MakeMKV?

Since VLC can use MakeMKV to play BDs on MacOS, why can't MakeMKV use VLC to play any given .m2ts title from within MakeMKV so the user can check if it's what they want before it's ripped?

I don't want to rip full discs, that's a waste of time when I only want one file - so is it really impossible for MakeMKV to use VLC to provide a preview of any given .m2ts?

The .m2ts files are in the STREAM folder inside the BDMV folder. Finder on macOS treats the BDMV folder like it is a package so you have to right-click on it and select 'Show Package Contents'. Then you can play the .m2ts files with the player of your choice.
