moving to Linux

Post by doobre »

Hi there, I have a lifetime key for MakeMKV in win10, can I use the same key in the Linux version installed thru a the snap store?

EDIT
and a follow up Q. does the firmware flash used in win10 still apply when using through linux/Zorin?

Ooops
I have version 1.18.1 linux(x64-release) and the message says "Downloading latest SDF to /home/zcdadmin/.MakeMKV/
But this 'downloading' doesn't complete.
The directory does exist (size=2.1Mib) and inside is the _private_data.tar file.
Can I update to the new version even though the file 'has not completed'? Is it just a case off extracting contents of the archive?

cheers CD

Seemingly the last stable binary is makemkv-bin-1.17.6.tar.gz, from https://makemkv.com/download/old/ Nearly 2 years old :-/

that's weird

but after I installed, accessing the drives was not possible.

Mr. Google pointed me to another site called something like "MakeMKV Unofficial PPD or PDD", when installed accessed the drives first time. But showed the message about downloading etc. Hence my earlier Q.

It's really easy to just compile it from source, I'd recommend that route.

Note there is a bug related to endless scanning on versions > 1.17.7 on Linux but it sounds like you have a LibreDrive enabled drive so that shouldn't be an issue I think but perhaps you're running into that bug.
