I have a 3D television - and have borrowed some 3D discs. I do not have a 3d Blu-ray connected to my television.
But I though that I could just you MakeMKV with my computer.
When I insert the Bluray disc in my (not 3D) Bluray player it says that it can't play it.
But MakeMKV can convert it alright. Only thing is, I can't see it's 3D. Somehow it seems like it's converted to 2D. What to do? This is so when I play it on the computer (actually that's nice, because it doesn't have a 3D screen connected), but it also happends when I play the file on my television (a 3D LG televisioin) which is of course not so nice. The idea was to see some 3D content on the television.
How to do 3D?
Re: How to do 3D?
As I understand it, 3D on a Bluray is a 2D video stream with an "MVC" stream that essentially tells the TV what the differences are between the left eye and right eye views. Without the MVC stream, you have a 2D feature.
The MVC stream is not ripped by MakeMKV by default (unless you're using "backup" mode), although you can tell select it using advanced selection rules. So, you have to click on the little triangle next to the title in the left window to expand it (shows you what tracks are within the title), and check the MVC stream to have it ripped.
Then you come to the part where you need to be able to play back the 3D... 3D playback within MKV files has its own message thread here, which is very popular: http://makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4781
