Feature Request - Output initial checks into a text file

Post by JonTheNiceGuy »

Hi,

I am using version 1.8.6 on Linux with USB an attached DVD drive, and I found when parsing disks (especially disks from Pixar such as Monsters University), that it can take over an hour or more to do the initial parse of a disks content (number of titles, angles, subtitles etc). Ideally, I'd like with disks that take more than (say) 10 minutes to do that initial check to be able to write that log to a file, so that the next time I put that disk into my drive, it's already got that content stored, so it doesn't need to run all of it again (if any). Perhaps, with an expiry default of 1 day, but optionally expandable if changed in the settings.

This would mean that if I've obtained the wrong title, or wanted to re-rip with different subtitles settings or choice of languages, or perhaps I just had a power cut, I didn't waste that time parsing the content the first time around.

Massively impressed with this tool, and I'm exceptionally glad I registered it. I did try to add this to the bug tracker, but the registration email never arrived, so I've added it here instead.

Thanks for considering this feature request,

Something is very wrong with your drive - this phase shouldn't take more than couple minutes.

I would agree, usually, but certain disks do take a lot of time... as I said, the Pixar ones are particularly problematic. Also, I'm using two external USB connected DVD drives, and I have two external USB hard disks... so there's a lot of load on my USB ports. I usually get around 4x speed on the drives, but sometimes it can drop to around 0.8x.
