Love the program, but what's with registration?

My trial period is over. What do I do now?
It seems that you aren't selling the thing yet.

Download the latest beta key, which is still valid (see http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053).

Or buy it (see http://www.makmkv.com/buy/).

in windows 8 the trial period stays at 30 days for whatever reason. Didn't matter as I finished all my HD-DVDs in 5 days, just saying.

I had the same 'problem' in Windows7. I think it's a permissions issue that keeps it from remembering that you used it for an HD disc.

What drive are you using for HD DVDs ? The XBOX thing?

That's what I've used for doing mine. Not the quickest drive but it works fine for ripping. And you can pick them up really cheap.
