Audio is high pitched or playing way too fast.

Post by marikcraven »

I've ripped a few movies. RED, Friends with benefits, The Perfect Host. The audio is as the title suggests. It sounds like it's playing the audio on super fast forward or something. I've tried playing it with windows media player, vlc, player classic, divx, and they all look great but sound the same.

At first I thought it was because I was picking lossless audio along with every other track in english, but the perfect host doesn't have that as an option. I've even tried making them with all audio tracks available and still same results.

Also there are no errors from makemkv at all so as far as I can tell it's doing what it's supposed to.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. 12 Gig of ram on a P7. Plenty of hard drive space.

What am I missing here?

Which audio codec should I have or update with mkv files?

You could try checking the problem files with MediaInfo to see if there is some sort of odd frame rate in the file. For a bluray, the frame rate should be 24.

For DVDs it should be 29.97 for NTSC, and 25 for PAL. The deal with DVDs is that there is then a framerate adjustment indicated in the file. If the original source is a movie, then the file should play back at 24 fps. Or not. It can get kinda crazy with the way DVDs are mastered.

Anyway, let the movie play, and when the audio ends, note that elapsed time. When the movie itself stops playing, note that elapsed time. Comparing the two times will let you figure out the frame rate the video is playing at.

Or you can go into mkvtoolnix and start messing with framerates and see if you can tell what it's being ripped at, or what it should be, and change it to the correct setting.

Thanks for the response. I think I've figured it out for now. I updated from 1.7.0 to 1.7.1 and then re-ripped. Everything worked except when I chose lossless audio, so I just don't choose that one on them and everything is a-ok now.
