Compatible Unbranded Drives
What are some unbranded bd drives that actually work? Are they compatible with MakeMKV and can rip both bd/dvd discs?

Re: Compatible Unbranded Drives
Unbranded BD drives can work with MakeMKV, but they are hit or miss since you often do not know the exact internal model or firmware. Most will handle regular Blu-ray and DVD ripping fine if the hardware supports it, but compatibility and reliability can vary. If you want a more stable setup, it is usually better to choose a known branded drive with confirmed support.

Does this apply for other ripping software as well?jefferymorton wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2026 2:53 amUnbranded BD drives can work with MakeMKV, but they are hit or miss since you often do not know the exact internal model or firmware.
