I have tried to search through the forum to see if this has already been covered and couldn't find anything, so apologies if this is actually a duplicate question.
I have been working my way through ripping my own Blu-Rays and I have a questions about what options to select to grab subtitles.
I always want to grab foreign language scene subtitles (ie the ones that are usually forced or burned in when a scene is not in English), but I would also like to rip the full english subtitles. This is because I find some American films hard to clearly hear some of the dialogue and would like to be able to put the subtitles on.
So what do I need to do to capture potentially multiple sets of Subtitles, and if I won't full english subtitles do I remove the tick from 'Forced Only'?
Your help is appreciated,
Paul
ps, I generally use HandBrake after the rip to compress the files and covert into MP4 and handbrake does usually make a good job of detecting and muxing subtitles within the resultant MP4 file, but the options i get to select in Handbrake are hit and miss (sometimes only showing Foreign language search, sometimes showing English or Both)
Selecting Correct Options to Capture Subtitles
Re: Selecting Correct Options to Capture Subtitles
I rip two subtitle files. the first english one and the forced under it. this gives me regular subtitles and any forced subtitles (though many movies have none, which makemkv will report).
then set your player settings to play the regular subtitles or not.
apologies if this is overly simplistic as I do not re-encode anything.

Re: Selecting Correct Options to Capture Subtitles
That pretty much is what I have been selecting but I have noticed of late, since i transcode all my rips with Handbrake, that HB is not finding any English Subs. It used to but both HB and MakeMKV have been updated recently so I guess one of them isn't working quite right just now.

Re: Selecting Correct Options to Capture Subtitles
HandBrake has never supported Blu-ray subtitles. Adding support for them is planned, but there's no ETA as to when that'll happen.
