I've been using this program to convert all my DVD's into episodic ones (WDTV doesn't handle episodic ISO's very well). All the discs have been ripped to the hard drive (taking out subs/languages I don't want) through AnyDVD.
Once in a while (and it's inconsistent as to when or why), MakeMKV will spend an extraordinary amount of time "decrypting" a disc that has already been decrypted.
So two questions,
1) IF the disc is decrypted, why is Makemkv trying to do so
2) What is the conditions for Makemkv to decide that it needs to decrypt a disc.
Thanks
Why does MakeMKV Decrypt?
Re: Why does MakeMKV Decrypt?
decrypting dvds takes a trivial amount of CPU power and actually happens during the mkv writing phase. the 'long time' is spent reading the disc structure and stuff.

Actually Makemkv sucks up a lot of CPU power, but that's not the issue at hand. The structure checking and figuring out the titles is trivial compared to the time it spends "decrypting" a decrypted disc.
