is dolby vision supported?
as the title states, is Dolby vision supported? saw some old post trying to figure it out, wondering it its a simple process today

that's the post that made me question this. I assumed Dolby vision would automatically download. Is that not the case? Do I have to do the remux steps like in that post as the only way?

MakeMKV reads the DV data and stores it in a .mkv file. If you have a recent version of MediaInfo it'll show you details about DV in a .mkv file.
Where things get tricky is in trying to play it back. Dolby Vision has this concept of 'profiles'. UHDs are profile 7. DV that you might stream from a streaming service or in a movie you bought on iTunes is profile 5. Most streaming boxes can do profile 5, but not profile 7. Most UHD players can only play profile 7 when reading from an optical disc. That thread is dedicated to the tools you can use to mash your profile 7 .mkv into some other format that your playback setup might be able to play (perhaps profile 8 and maybe in a .ts file).
