Looking for a free way to backup a X project DRM dvd to an ISO. All methods I could find included using paid software which isn't in my budget. Wondering if MakeMKV will ever get support for this, or if there is other free software I could use?

I've not encountered a DVD that MakeMKV couldn't rip. Out of curiosity, what title are you having trouble with?

I do have a few Disney DVDs, which have a silly structure. There are IFOs and VOBs pointing to previous files in the file system, making the disc like 44 GB in size in Windows Explorer.
Additionally, these IFOs do have all like 99 programs and 254 cells listed in them, and because of the duplicates, that lists up to a program chain of 31212.
MakeMKV was able to backup all but one of those DVDs protected that way. So you should give it a try, especially as MakeMKV can be used 30 days without limitations.
