I'm trying to backup my whole DVD collection but this is taking forever. Between 2+ hours per disc and not being attentive, I can do only 3 or 4 a day. There's got to be a better way.
Is there a way to quickly rip an ISO to my HD so I can do a bunch? And then a way to queue MakeMkv or something to go through all those ISOs automatically over night?
Faster Backups
Re: Faster Backups
MakeMKV can be run on multiple drives, which is generally how you speed things up.
While it is possible to copy a disk to the hard drive, then rip from there, the speed difference is hard to calculate. Generally, MakeMKV is going to rip as fast as the disk will go, so getting more drives can help. I generally run two or more drives when I'm trying for speed, but the drive is still an issue. The 8x drive in my main computer is slower than the 16x drives in my secondary computer. But they only hit their maximum speeds after they've been ripping for a while... Short disks do not rip that fast.
