Hoping someone can save me hours of research.
I want to build a rackmount drop and rip style movie server.
I want to rip my blu-ray's and some UHD discs. I want to then stream then uncompressed and retain original quality to my apple tv's. I can use plex, embed whatever for that part of it.
But I want to discuss the hardware side of things. I need a chassis that can hold at least 8 drive bays, plus room for the drive. Software that can handle the drop and rip (assume makemkv) and then have it setup so it rips it right onto the drives in the same chassis.
So first off, what drive should I buy to handle ripping bluray and uhd. I see there is a whole slew of options, but can someone narrow down like what the top two drive choices might be? I am in the US so that is my region. I can flash firmware on a drive if needed and it process isn't ridiculous. I'm tech savvy.
Secondly anyone have recommendations for the rest of the setup I mentioned for the chassis and server setup, disk drives, etc?
