I was using the version just before the most recent version of MakeMKV (which would be version 1.16.4) with no problems. Then I updated to 1.16.5 and everything seemed fine until after a reboot. At this point, one of my 3 Blu-Ray drives would decide to ignore whatever disc was in it (and it wasn't the same drive every time). This was only when DVDFab Passkey was running though. If I didn't start Passkey, I could use MakeMKV to rip that disc just fine. I could also often get it to play in whatever media player since it allows the use of the decryption engine to play discs. I don't know exactly why it happens, just that it started AFTER I updated MakeMKV and went away after I uninstalled the latest version and went back to the previous version.
I've considered leaving MakeMKV uninstalled until I need to rip a disc but it's kinda inconvenient to install it, rip a disc and then uninstall again. I don't know if there's any way I can help DVDFab passkey ignore MakeMKV like it used to. Oh and I actually thought it might have been DVDFab Passkey's problem initially and so I would reinstall it and it would work fine... until a reboot! I don't know why it waits for a reboot before the problem arises. It seems to happen more often on DVDs instead of Blu Rays, though some blu rays will just fail to work or will just take an abnormally long time to work. I don't know if it's the same blu rays every time or not.
I plan on addressing the issue on DVD Fab's forums as well to see if there's any way I can get the issue resolved, I just have had trouble logging into their forums. As for why I need both programs...Well I don't really on a daily basis, but the one I use more often is passkey just for the fact I can play a disc without having to endure the forced play on many DVDs (anti-piracy warnings, disclaimers about how the commentary doesn't reflect the parent company, Coming soon or Also available from "insert company here", yadda yadda yadda).
Newest version of MakeMKV seems to conflict with DVDFab Passkey

Just set passkey to not run on startup then manually start it anytime you want to use it

Re: Newest version of MakeMKV seems to conflict with DVDFab Passkey
I have installed both MakeMKV (1.16.5) and Passkey (9.4.3.1) as well, and I never have any problem. Of course I only start them when I need them. But even when having them run both at the same time, I just get the message from MakeMKV that the disc was decrypted with something else already (because Passkey gives MakeMKV the data).
