Lock Instance to Drive?

Post by Tango »

I'm on macOS and I am currently using 2 drives, a BD-RW drive (that I've flashed to upgrade to LibreDrive - but have a rendering process going and can't reboot it yet!) and a DVD-RW. I'm in the process of ripping all my movies to a server, so I'm often using 2 instances of MakeMKV and both drives. I've found some irritations.

An instance of MakeMKV seems to always switch to whatever drive I've just put a disc in and I've found this confusing. Is there any way to "lock" an instance to a drive? For instance, once I start using my DVD-RW in one instance, is there a way to keep that instance linked to that drive? There are times when I've put in discs in each drive. One ID's the disc and just as I'm about to type in the name I want to use for ripping, the window changes as that drive reads the disc in the other drive to ID it. Then it finishes that task and I can finally type in the name.

It gets confusing at times with the instances going back and forth between the drives. It'd be a lot less confusing and friendlier if a particular instance could be told to look at only one drive.

Yes, that works! Thank you!

Side note: I had 2 instances running and clicked on that checkbox in both of them and nothing changed. So I quit both instances and when I restarted, it prompted me whether I wanted to use all drives or a particular one. Just adding this so anyone seeing this will get that it has to restart to use this.
