Earlier today, MakeMKV failed to completely rip a new 4K disc. Then, it failed to rip two blu-ray discs. In fact, the drive opens, and MakeMKV reports "no disc." However, MakeMKV still rips DVDs. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: Ripping issue
Did the 4K disk get ejected mid-rip?
If so, and the additional BD attempts also ejected before the initial read, it is possible the blue laser failed.
In addition to Billy's suggestion, make sure you power cycle the drive and computer, to make sure the hardware resets completely.

Re: Ripping issue
Turning the computer and drive off and on seems to have everything working normally now. At least, MakeMKV can see the files.
The 4K seemed to be stuck with the counter going the wrong way, so I quit MakeMKV.
I cleaned two blu-ray discs with denatured alcohol, but that did not change the results. By the way, I ripped one of those blu-ray discs a few days ago.
I am not certain what you mean by "power cycle," but will power down both the computer and the drive, and try again later.
For what it's worth, ripping DVDs usually is a bigger pain than ripping blu-ray discs.
Thanks.
