Does MakeMKV copy ALL the contents of a DVD?

Post by Cytomax »

Hello all i am trying to backup my DVD collection and i used to back them up to ISO's
I like the idea of MKV and would be interested in backing up my collection to MKV instead of ISO
My question is simple
When backing up a DVD with makemkv does it backup the WHOLE DVD just like i would backup to an ISO or does it leave stuff out like subtitles or chapter support or audio etc?
AND
does everything work with the mkv file like subtitles, audio, different languages, chapters... etc.... the same as if i would of backed up a DVD to ISO

i know Blurays have a problem with this but i dont know about the DVD's that is why im asking

Thanks in Advance
Eddie

Hi!

MakeMKV will create a "movie-only" .MKV that includes videostream, chapters, audiostreams and subtitle streams...

From the MakeMKV homepage:
Reads DVD and Blu-ray discs
Reads Blu-ray discs protected with latest versions of AACS and BD+
Preserves all video and audio tracks, including HD audio
Preserves chapters information
Preserves all meta-information (track language, audio type)
