Is it possible to make MKV from a file created with MAKEMKV bluray disc back up option? I have pulled a few BD discs using the MAKEMKV back up option and the streams will not play, but when I try to open them with MAKEMKV, so that I can convert them into MKV, they are grayed out. I "lost" the discs, so I can't just put it in and make MKV.
Do I need another program? It seems like it would be simple to do with MAKEMKV?? Doesn't it just read the back up as if it was an BD?

Re: MakeMKV BD Backup files to MKV
Hi!
At this forum it is not appropriate to discuss anything to do with commercial discs that you no longer have, didn't purchase, or both...I "lost" the discs, so I can't just put it in and make MKV.
Re: MakeMKV BD Backup files to MKV
I meant that I packed them away in the attic.
Anyone that can help??
Also if you rip a bd but forgot to check the remove encryption, can you still decrypt it later as long as you put the key in? This is what I understood from the FAQ.

Re: MakeMKV BD Backup files to MKV
If you have used the "backup" function of MakeMKV (with or without encryption removed) you can process the ripped structure to create an MKV at a later time without the disc.

I thought I could, but how? When I try to open the m2ts file it is grayed out. I can't drag and drop, nothing. Is there a special way I have to do it?
Re: MakeMKV BD Backup files to MKV
Click the folder icon in the top left of the starting MakeMKV window. Then go into the folder structure on your hard drive that you have previously made, go into the BDMV folder and open the index.bdmv file. MakeMKV will then open the folder as if it was a disc.

Sweet. Thanks for the help crowfax. I'll try it when I get home. I though it would be something like that but I kept trying to open other files instead.
