Frozen in spots

I apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered. I'm trying to convert my Blu-ray collection into digital files for easier access. I'm using a Mac with the latest download for MKV.

What's been happening sometimes is that towards the beginning of the movie a scene will suddenly slow down and freeze for a few moments before starting back up again. This happens multiple times on occasion.

Since it's a bunch of different titles I don't believe this is due to the individual discs.

Could this be due to my player? Or...anyone have any similar experiences with this?

You wrote nothing about the playing soft- and hardware. For me it sounds like a "buffering problem" during reading the stream data.

The Mac is an old late 2008 model, but with an upgraded video card. The player is Digistor portable disc player. Where do you think the buffering problem would be coming from? I haven't made any changes to how I burn the discs, but all of the sudden it started happening.
