Hi Guys,
i want to build a new HTPC with a UHD Frienly Drive and Make MKV.
At first i thinked about a AMD Ryzen 7 2700 CPU for ripping my disks (i have a lot of Discs). What do you think for CPU i should take for fast ripping? Or is the speed from ripping time from any CPU not a big difference?
Can you please say me how long is the normal time for ripping UHD Discs and blu ray Discs?
Thank you very much.
Regards.

Which CPU for fast ripping
Re: Which CPU for fast ripping
CPU is not the limiting factor in ripping - disk speed (both optical and otherwise) are the biggest factors.
I've run 2 drives to their speed limits on a 2-core 32-bit computer, pushing data out to a fast network drive. I've also done "triple rips" on a i5 3.4GHz machine while it was also doing a handbrake encode.
If you WANT a faster processor, that's OK, too... Just because MakeMKV would not benefit from it, once you get to encoding, more speed is good.
