A lot of you should have noticed that if you put links in your messages, there is a good chance that you will be told that your message is being held for moderation. This is to cut down on the spam messages that occasionally appear on the board.
What quite a few of you have NOT noticed is that, if you habitually quote messages, your reply will ALSO be held for moderation, just as if you had put the links in yourself.
Please be more discriminating in what you quote. This is a forum, not email - messages stick around, so people can read what was said before. If you are addressing a specific item in a previous message, quote just that part of the message and make your response.
Unless you LIKE having your messages held for moderation.....
Quoting messages and moderation
Re: Quoting messages and moderation
One additional thing to think about.
Lately, some spam accounts have been "quoting" messages, but modifying the quote to include links to spam sites, including porno and illegal document sites. I've been trying to clean them up when I find them (and banning those who do it), but the proliferation of huge quotes has made it easier for them to hide.
It's up to you guys and gals if you want to include a HUGE quote to comment on ONE ITEM, but just remember that someone might try to make YOU look like a spammer, since it's "normal".
