Hello,
I am under the impression that MakeMKV creates lossless copies of Blu-ray discs. I have ripped an Audio Blu-ray, and have noticed that the source sizes differ from the output MKV sizes:
Is this to be expected? I noticed the following information on the "About" page:
/aboutmkv/
"MKV files are compact. For exactly the same content MKV files are about 10% smaller than DVD files and roughly 40% smaller than Blu-ray files."
These file sizes are more like ~50% reductions, but I just wanted to make sure that it should be lossless. From here, I'll extract the audio and separate the chapters into individual files.
Thanks for the confirmation, as I'm just wanting to make sure that I'm getting true lossless audio.
Cheers,
Nathan Zachary

Yes, MakeMKV will output files with lossless audio and video, that's the beauty of the software. Can't say specifically why your file sizes are what they are but you can always check the file with something like MediaInfo to verify.
