Is there a website in existence that shows the exact length of various show episodes? IMDB only reports a generic "42 minutes" for the length of every episode.
If not, can anyone tell me the exact verified lengths of all the season 2 Arrow episodes?
With other shows, as a last resort I can do a Google search for various temporary stars who appear in the ending credits... i.e. ' "Joe Smith" "Jane Jones" ' with the double quotes is usually all I need to single out which episode a track is once the track is ripped. Unfortunately, Arrow lists the same generic credits after every episode.
Thanks for your help!

Arrow season 2 exact episode times
Re: Arrow season 2 exact episode times
Are you seeing variance in the title lengths? Most shows strive to edit for exact length, that is, all episodes will be within 1 second of the same length on disk.
Rule of thumb - most DVDs and BDs are authored with the episodes in order, by VOB or m2pl file NAME. This is not necessarily the MKV file name, because there are some weird ways to author disks.

Re: Arrow season 2 exact episode times
I think he's trying to figure out what title is what episode.
Don't look at length...it's a waste of time.
You'll see that the episodes are laid out a certain way on the disc. 51 is episode 1, 52 is episode 2 and so on. The numbering should continue from disc to disc, or it may restart at 51 for every disc, but likely Disc 2 will start at 56, and Disc 3 will start at 60.
You may also see double the amount of episodes per disc, but you'll notice that the tiles that don't begin with a 5 are the same episodes with Japanese subtitles.
Pretty much every CW show on disc follows this naming convention of playlists, some may use 501 instead of 51, but they're all the same. Once you've remuxed one...you should know what's up.

Re: Arrow season 2 exact episode times
@Angelgraves - yes, this is what I'm trying to do. When I did discs from further seasons, I figured something out that really helped - I tried writing down all of the playlist (.m3u) numbers in a way that would allow me to find patterns, and sure enough something emerged pretty quickly:
This made it "clear" to me (at least, as clear as I can be in guessing when I haven't seen the show and don't want to watch any of the episodes and spoil it) that the real numbers here are 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, and 66. The numbers were always the same on each disc - always a nice string of 60s, but sporadic appearances of 50s and 70s. I hope this assumption is right.
I'm still crossing my fingers that someone can chime in and just type something like this (or a screenshot of the folder) for the second season:
Episode 1 - 41:31
Episode 2: 42:35
etc.
@Woodstock - Thanks for your response. I have ripped a ton of shows in my collection (Star Trek: Enterprise, Battlestar: Galactica, 24, Stargate Atlantis, Arrow, and the list goes on and on...), and literally none of them achieve episode lengths that are of uniform length (within 1 or 2 seconds) as you describe. Even the show 24 has episodes that run 42:43, 41:12, 42:31, 41:58... (first season), and that show is arguably about as "prescribed" as they get when it comes to format of each episode. This seems to hold true for shorter length shows such as Modern Family and Big Bang Theory, as well as longer length shows on premium stations such as Dexter, Game of Thrones, etc. I'm very curious what shows you have ripped that produce identical track lengths for each episode?
Code: Select all
51 52 54 56
61 62 63 64 65 66
73 75
(this is for a disc with 6 episodes)

Re: Arrow season 2 exact episode times
My method has always been to pull up the wikipedia or IMDB page for the season of a TV series I'm ripping. Scroll down to the episode list, carefully avoiding spoilers, and look for the writer(s) and director(s). The combo is almost always unique per episode. After ripping all episodes of a disc, I play each episode's .mkv file, skip to the writer/director credits (usually early in the episode), taking great care not to watch or listen to any part of the episode if it's something I've not watched before, and make the matches.
A serious pain in the butt, tedious and very inelegant, but it works...

Re: Arrow season 2 exact episode times
My experience with Arrow S2 is that the episodes were not necessarily in order on the disk. I ended up having to rip everything and sort it out later.
The method I've usually found most effective for doing this is to look for the episode production code in the credits. For example, from S2E1 (click for a bigger version):
Once I have that code, I compare it to data from The TVDB (the Production Code field is right above the synopsis).

Here's my listing of S2 (click to make it big). These were all matched using the method described above. I have not yet actually watched the episodes to confirm they are all correct, but I'm pretty confident they are.Fortissimo wrote: I'm still crossing my fingers that someone can chime in and just type something like this (or a screenshot of the folder) for the second season:

yorgo and forty2, those are both very clever strategies, and thanks so much for posting the timings!
Re: Arrow season 2 exact episode times
I use MakeMKV to extract content, and then check the tracks for proper order, and use Handbrake to complete the process. I build a list of episodes and whatnot in Excel. Here are my results for Arrow Season 2 Bluray.
