New Filename Option

Post by CharlieF »

With the help of the forum, I was able to get the sw to name the files as they were being converted.
This required the advanced setting and using the Copy & Paste for each of the converted files selected.
For a movie not bad, but when converting disc with several episodes. It could be possible more efficient.

IT would be nice to have a checkbox that would append the disc lable as the filename prefix to the t00, ... for all files being converted.

Such as what happens if you have "SemiAuto" checked under Preferences->Video?

The semi-auto option still required me to paste a new name into each episode individually.
It did not do it automatically.

If I did not change the name field on each episode, the SW used Title00, Title01.... only

Unfortunately, that is not something that can be safely automated - not all disks have the episodes in the correct order.

I do this a LOT. I rip few movies, lots of TV shows. So, I let MakeMKV do part of the naming, then...

Modify one name to the pattern I want, such as:

Absolute Duo HD01

I then put in the clipboard PART of the string, "Absolute Duo HD0" (episodes 1-9 were on disk one, 10-12 on disk 2).

Hit the down arrow to move down to the next title, Ctrl-A (select everything), Ctrl-V (paste in clipboard), type "2", repeat down the line.

Next, I what I'm editing to "filename". Double-click on what MakeMKV put in automatically (Absolute_Duo_HD01_t00.mkv) to highlight the part before the extension, hit Ctrl-V, "1", down arrow, repeat for "2" through "9". Tell MakeMKV to start ripping.

I don't care what MakeMKV names the extras - they're going to get watched once and deleted.

Is it a perfect solution? Not really. And when I have to deal with disks from certain vendors, the episodes might be in the order 9,8,7,6,3,4,5,2,1 instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. But it moves pretty quick; I can queue a disk for ripping with the correct file names in about a minute.
