So might this mean that MakeMKV is extracting the HD-DVD subtitles in the incorrect format after all? It sounds like EVO Demux to extracted a .sup, which BDSup2Sub was able to read. For the same disc, MakeMKV would output .sub/.idx files that nothing will read, correct?IceZeroNine wrote:Thanks a lot SamuriHL. I tried it that way and got the sup file from the HD-DVD, I then ran that through BDSup2Sub and converted the .sup to .idx and .sub files, then used MKVmerge to mux them together with the encoded video from Handbrake, and the subs now display in MPC-Home Cinema and also VLC.
I'm wondering if there is a simple fix that might make it into MakeMKV someday, since AFAICT it already has all the required base functionality. MakeMKV is so much easier to use (and significantly less expensive) than AnyDVD HD+EVO Demux+mkvmerge...
