Hello Mike,

Any chance to have the "blank" field feature in the next release ? I just received my Blu-Ray Battlestar Galactica TV Show and would like to rip it, but having 70 episodes to manually edit in MkvToolnix is not a very fun perspective.

Thanks !

You could do it with a batch for MKVToolnix.

Hmm, did not find out how. I use Mkvtoolnik 5.7.0_2012-07-11-cd22 on Mac OSX.
I have to find a way to get the command line from this build...

I've checked the dmg file and it has mkvmerge too which uses the command-line on Windows.

It's a sooooo long time since Mike said it will be coming soon,. 1.7.9 is out and there is still no way to have a default value for audio track filed "name" set at nothing (blank) and let the MKV player determine (and translate/present) the track name based on it's specification (metatdata). The idea is to have the default value set to blank bit having the possibility to manually change it to another value if the user needs it.

Example : In today's version, all "HD tracks" are labeled (name) "Lossless". You can manually change the value to whatever (DTS HD Master Audio or My Mega HD track if you prefer) but you cannot blank the field (or remove it), MakeMkv always want this field to have a value (and setting the value to a simple space character is not the same as having a real blank field).

Please, please, please ! :-) may be for 1.7.10 ? :-D

Have you tried a non-breaking space as a workaround?

YEEEEEES ! v1.7.10 now supports have blank names for audio streams !

Thanks you so much !

Related question : is there any "magic trick" I can use in the profile to set the default audio track names to a blank value ? (blanking audio track names is now the only last manual operation that subsists in my workflow)
