I let AnyDVD HD scan the disc and then look at the Status tab > Java BD protection good playlists. Write the playlist numbers down.
I turn off AnyDVD HD, open/close the drive, then run MakeMKV so it reads faster.

Disc #1 (PBS)
s05e01 = 00802.mpls
s05e02 = 00631.mpls
s05e03 = 00709.mpls
combined = 00406.mpls

Disc #2 (PBS)
s05e04 = 00457.mpls
s05e05 = 00972.mpls
s05e06 = 00334.mpls
s05e07 = 00887.mpls
combined = 00521.mpls

Disc #3 (PBS)
s05e08 = 00806.mpls
s05e09 A Moorland Holiday = 00467.mpls
combined = 00649.mpls

I hope this helps someone.
It most certainly helped me! :D

WOW! THANKS A MILLION YOU GUYS!

Talk about life savers! :)

We recently picked up Downton seasons 1-5 from Amazon during one of their holiday special offers which was too good to pass up. Like everyone else, I ripped through 1-4 with no problems, but was stunned when I saw the output listings on the first disc of season #5. I tried fishing around the disc hoping to hit the right files, but with something like 180 files on the disc, all with the same three file names and sizes but varying chapter counts I was truly at a loss as to what to do next!

On a hunch, I thought I would check the forums here to see if anyone had come up with a solution to this truly diabolical copy protection scheme! I have to hand it to the DVD authors who came up with this idea! It is certainly a creative way to screw with licensed owners of the media and prevent them from copying this content onto their media server! :(

Is this a peek into the future with all new BD releases going forward? I'm not a software engineer, but this approach to copy protection seems like it would be a real bitch to deal with for an app like MakeMKV. I hope I'm wrong about that and eventually Mike will be adding some new magic to the product to identify the half dozen or so actual files out of close to 200 decoys!

Thanks again to those who put in what I know was a heck of a lot of detective work here! I wasted a whole day just trying to rip the 3 actual episodes off the first disc and in the end, I was no further along than when I started! Without the legit .mpls IDs listed above, I was basically dead in the water!
