Because I am using the US version of dvdfab which has the protection removel removed and will not open the disk. Once anydvd makes the disk appear to be protection free dvdfab is able to read the the correct playlist.

This is a really old thread, but still a relevant topic/issue. I have been using HandBrake to rip my DVDs with a lot of success. I use the command line interface (CLI) on Ubuntu Linux. I simply pop in the DVD, then run a script that mounts the DVD and fires off HandBrake with my default profile. MOST of the time, it grabs the correct title. I have been recently turned onto MakeMKV to result in higher quality rips.

Folks in this thread mention that dvdfab also does a decent job of finding the correct title that is the main movie.

So it's technically possible to make a relatively accurate "main title" guess in software. SO...any plans to have an --autotitleselect option in MakeMKV? :)
