When I say I don't know the details, I literally mean how it's programmatically determining the correct playlists. Peer stated that he was adding code to scan for them back when Source Code was released. He didn't specify how it works in detail. As I said, they're not maintaining some database or using length tricks...Peer specifically said doing the length thing doesn't work on older java protected titles where they simply rearranged the order of the m2ts files within the fake playlists. Somehow when they're removing this protection from the disc, they are able to determine which are the *likely* valid playlists. And again, Peer said that AnyDVD could get it wrong which also suggests this is not a mere database trick. He didn't specify how or why AnyDVD could get the playlists wrong. All I know, and really all I care about, is that AnyDVD provides me with the valid playlists when I pop the disc in. It doesn't require me to do any manual process to get the information I need to make a back up. Even if it's wrong, it's a good start. So far, on the discs I've tried it on, it has been correct.

Are you sure that Fengtao hasn't implemented something similar in his products already? I would expect that Passkey would likely do the same as AnyDVD. That IS speculation as I don't keep up on the latest DVDFab developments.

EDIT:
DVDFab Passkey 8.0.3.5

New: Added new feature to select correct main playlist for certain discs like "Source Code" which has many fake playlists.
I thought he might have added something like that.

Anyway, as I said before, IDEALLY MakeMKV would be able to detect these fake MPLS and simply not add them to the title selection dialog and/or flag them as "probably fake". That'd be a really sweet feature.

This is obviously coming.

Thanks for the confirmation, Mike. That's great news and I look forward to it!
