Re: UPDATE: New BD+ as found in avatar
Maybe I've just misunderstood. If that is the case, I apologize in advance.
Does this mean that avatar.sqv will eventuelly become part of the allcombo.sqv file, or will we always have to have it as a seperate file?

@alehel
Based on what they did regarding "Avatar", I believe Rovi is attempting to "drown" the authors/publishers/software engineers of MakeMKV, DVDFab, and AnyDVDHD with so many different variations that timeliness and thoroughness (solutions that work for all locations) in providing solutions becomes a problem.
Again, I believe time will tell...
I suppose time will tell - depending on what and when Rovi (formerly Macrovision), on behalf of the studios, comes up with in the way of a new iteration of BD+ and/or other protections.Does this mean that avatar.sqv will eventuelly become part of the allcombo.sqv file, or will we always have to have it as a seperate file?

It is now. The updated allcombo.svq and avatar.svq are the same file.alehel wrote:Maybe I've just misunderstood. If that is the case, I apologize in advance.

Re: UPDATE: New BD+ as found in avatar
I'm a little confused. Is the svq file "required" for MakeMKV? I've never had to reference the allcombo.svq since beginning using MakeMKV. Perhaps this is not required for english Blu-rays?

Re: UPDATE: New BD+ as found in avatar
Hmm...not quite sure what I'm doing wrong...I've loaded the appropriate SVQ files and pointed MakeMKV to their directory. However, the application does not appear to be loading the SVQ files for some reason. I am reading a backup made using MakeMKV 1.5.4 but that shouldn't make any difference...should it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: A quick reboot seemed to solve the problem. Keep up the good work!MakeMKV v1.5.5 beta darwin(x86-release) started
Optical drive "DVD+R-DL MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E ZA0E" opened in OS access mode.
Optical drive "BD-ROM Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S 1.03" opened in OS access mode.
Opening files on harddrive at /Volumes/Drobo/Avatar (2009)/
Evaluation version, 26 day(s) out of 30 remaining
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

@dtblair
Hi!
The "SVQ" files only come into play when a BluRay disc contains a specific type of additional copy protection called "BD+". Thusfar, ONLY 20th Century Fox has used "BD+" and they've only used it on SOME (not all) of their BluRay releases.
If you install the latest version of "allcombo.svq" (Proper processing of "BD+" BluRay discs up to and including "Avatar") and, if necessary, any future updates, you'll be a happy camper ;>}

Avatar is the first disc that I've encountered with BD+. I've set up the allcombo.svq directory. Thanks for the info.setarip_old wrote:@dtblair

Hey Guys
I am using OS X 10.6.3. I have downloaded the SVQ file. When I try to point MakeMKV to the file it is grayed out making it a unavailable choice. Is there a Mac SVQ or what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Hi!
As per the instructions:
In order to use SVQ file just download it into "SVQ directory" set in MakeMKV preferences (on BD+ tab). MakeMKV will automatically pick-up the SVQ file and all discs that are enabled in SVQ file will start working. You must set "SVQ directory" in preferences, but you need to do it only once.

Re: UPDATE: New BD+ as found in avatar
I still having problems getting the SVQ to work.
I've been going to BD+ tap in the preferences and I select the "browse folder" for the SVQ files directory. When I make my way to the location of the SVQ file in my downloads folder it is unelectable, you can see that it is there but is not able to be chosen.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Tom

Sorry to hear that you're still having difficulty.
Perhaps "NomadCF" or "Mike Admin" can provide you with a better/clearer explanation than I have...
