When to decrypt backup, and when not to decrypt

What is the general consensus when backing up BD (or UHD) discs? Decrypt or not?
Ive seen a few posts that some programs want the original "signatures", so in those cases don't.

Should I be decrypting all, with the exception being for some (or vice versa)?

My workflow is backup disk (no decryption), then from backup MKV main title saved to Plex.
I backed up a star is born, but could not decrypt the backup. To complete my process, I had to decrypt the initial backup. Should I be decrypting all my backups?

movie extras for backup, I usually dont save them when writing main title.
Also, in case I miss a forced sub. my process has evolved, and now I write all subs.

You rented a Lionsgate disc, and might discover that you ripped the wrong playlist.

Since decrypting from HD is faster than disk, am I good getting a "1:1" copy if I decrypt my backup? Or would I need to back up again from the bluray and select decrypt?

i would think you would want to make a regular nondecrypted backup first and then once that is done close and reopen makemkv and open the index file in the encrypted backup that should let you decrypt the whole file at least this is the process that works for me .let me know if you have any questions I would be more then happy to help

Why?
Why this complicated process? A backup takes longer, because all files (!!!) are copied to HDD. It makes no difference to decrypt or not the backup to save some time to create later the movie MKV file from the backup.The fastest way is always to create the movie MKV file (or whatever) direct from disc to HDD.
