Hi,
As a new user, when backing up a DVD, is it possible to change the output (via MakeMKV's menu) from an MKV file to the file format used by a DVD?
Thanks in advance.
Mkv File Format to DVD File Format
Re: Mkv File Format to DVD File Format
There are multiple (free and otherwise) utilities out there to "back up a DVD", creating a decrypted ISO file that you can burn to a blank disk.
There is not a real need to morph MakeMKV into such an application.

Re: Mkv File Format to DVD File Format
Hi there! Got a question too:
I made an MKV file from a DVD. The DVD movie is in 16:9 on the disc. The MKV file now is in 21:9. Can I do something that I get the correct aspect ratio of 16:9 in the MKV file?
Many thanks for any answer!

Re: Mkv File Format to DVD File Format
Extract the MPEG2 track using MKVExtract, run the stream through ReStream to change the aspect ratio to 16:9, remux the video back into the original MKV using MKVMerge, MKVMerge should set the MKV aspect ratio correctly from there.
You could just load the MKV into the MKVToolNix GUI header editor and attempt to change the aspect ratio there, but not all players handle container/stream aspect ratio conflicts very well.
