No, the revocation is part of the AACS on each disk. When MakeMKV reports the "highest AACS", it's the based upon the disks that have been read in the drive. MakeMKV's current key is revoked in the latest AACS, v55. If you put a disk with v55 into your drive, MakeMKV will no longer be able to process ANY BDs in that drive (even if MakeMKV wasn't running at the time), pending Mike creating another access key.

This is part of the firmware of licensed BD drives.

So if our drive to play blurays discs (a basic player in the living room), after a time, this player will can't read "new" blurays discs ? And so, solutions are to buy another player or download an update of the firmware ?

I think that

this pretty much says that licensed Blu-ray players like the typical living room device will not run into any AACS-decryption troubles. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no tech expert.

A "stand-alone" player is usually constructed out of a special-purpose computer and a BD drive, similar to what you buy for your computer. The firmware in the drive enforces AACS, usually, and the firmware of the COMPUTER (which usually is updatable via internet) contains a "player key".

So, it is possible for AACS to disable the drive in a stand-alone, and a firmware update to the player's firmware make it work again, by changing the key.

dtprkr, the arrival of the key is very quick. I had mine within 10 minutes of registering.

Edited to add: The keys in players are allegedly "valid until revoked". That does not mean they will work forever, though - some content in future standards could change the way the keys work, or be incompatible with the firmware (such as 4K content).

If something will change like encryption in bluray, (we exclude a big change of hardware here), author of MakeMKV could say "you need to pay again for another encryption" ? You probably don't know but I try anyway, and may be the author will look my question.

EDIT : But anyway, I will buy at finale version MakeMKV.
