hello
I want to confirm the correct firmware before flashing.
Hardware:
- Drive: LG BU40N (slim)
- Connected via USB external enclosure (Archgon MD-8107S-U3YC-UHD)
- OS: Windows 11
- MakeMKV version: 1.18.3
Current behavior:
- UHD discs detected but fail with AACS errors
- MakeMKV does NOT report LibreDrive enabled
I have downloaded the “all you need firmware pack” and see the LG slim BU40N folder.
Before flashing anything, I want to confirm:
1) Which exact firmware file is recommended for BU40N in a USB enclosure on Windows 11
2) Whether this drive requires a RECOVER step first or can be flashed directly
3) That I should NOT crossflash with BP50NB40 or BP60NB10 firmware
I’m intentionally stopping here to avoid bricking the drive.
Thanks in advance.

Re: confirm correct firmware
Billy, in your guide you mention that the new Archgon doesn't support flashing but you don't mention that it also prevents Libredrive. Maybe you should do an addendum for that issue.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 1:00 amnew archgons cant be flashed in the case and libredrive also wont work in them for not either
