I have one disc (Lost in Space Season 1 Disc 5 file T01 with Encountered 16 errors of type 'HashCheck Error'
There are no scratches on the disc, but the reviews said there were many complaints of disc errors in pressing.
Since this is the only file in the 3 season set I cannot rip to my server, is there any way to force MakeMKV into bypassing the corrupted sectors on the disc and continue ripping rather than just failing? I realize this would result in dropped frames or segments from the file, but 44 out of 45 minutes would be preferable to 0 minutes.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Re: Bypass errors
"There are no scratches on the disk" means nothing - anything that interferes with reading the bits is a problem. Fingerprints, for example, or even minor smudges. That's why "clean the disk" is a standard response here.
MakeMKV does not have a "bypass mode". It tries to get 100% of the data.

Re: Bypass errors
Thanks. The latest release was actually able to read all 3 of the bad discs I had been unable to rip using the previous release. Great job MakeMKV.
Re: Bypass errors
I could really use this. I'm getting the read error on a disk and the other forum pages suggest it's a scratched or dirty disk, but the disk is brand new (never even took it out of the case before). I see nothing on the disk to suggest user damage or dirt/smudge etc. Half way through the disk rip it just quits. I ran it several times and it's always at the same exact sector. Based on the other forum, I'm lead to believe that the disk is bad from the factory, but it's way past the return date ( I only recently got a 4k compatible drive). It would be much preferable if we could skip bad frames/sectors and move on rather than scrap the project.
Re: Bypass errors
Hi,
you can try adding the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MakeMKV/io_IgnoreReadErrors as DWORD with a value of 1. That won't fix any error but may help you reading the parts of the disc that have no errors.
I used this flag successfully on a disc with two corrupt video files. (I had three identical discs with episodes from a show which produced the exact same read errors on three different drives.)

Re: Bypass errors
New discs and disc cases can have oily residue on them from manufacturing. I was amused by the fingerprints on various discs in a new, shrinkwrapped box set that I purchased. I wash all discs and cases that I receive (new or used) before trying to read the discs. I have seen descriptions of elaborate rituals and materials for cleaning discs (microfiber cloth, etc.), none of which is necessary. Warm water under a kitchen faucet, add a bit of dish detergent, rub it with your fingers, rinse, dry with a clean cloth like a towel, napkin, or handkerchief, then wipe it with another lint-free cloth to remove lint and dust.
